Typically a black belt has additional skills to justify projects and coordinate projects they can work independently or as part of a deployment team. They may also be trained in Design for Six Sigma allowing them to work cross functionally within the Business. Working on projects from design conception through to project termination.

Typical additional tools above Green belt level are:

  • QFD Quality Function Deployment
  • DFM Design For Manufacture
  • Tolerance Analysis
  • Reliability studies
  • DFMEA/FMEA/FMECA/HAZARD Analysis.
  • Reliability Survival tools
  • Parametric/Non-parametric Analysis
  • Design Of Experiments (Taguchi/OFAT/RSM/Full Factorial/Custom Designs e.t.c).
  • Guage R&R Analysis (Crossed/Nested/ Attribute Studies)
  • Scorecards
  • Divergent Thinking and creative techniques
